In-Practice Teeth Whitening
Teeth whitening is easily the most popular cosmetic dentistry solution we offer. This will come as no surprise to anyone who has visited the oral hygiene aisle of their local grocery store or pharmacy recently. There are typically several shelves filled with whitening toothpastes, mouthwashes, strips, and gels all promising dramatic transformations. Unfortunately, only professional whitening can deliver brighter smiles effectively and predictably. Using the KoR deep bleaching system, our team is able to help patients brighten their smiles up to ten shades and maintain these results for years without the dental sensitivity often experienced by patients who whiten their teeth. KoR whitening starts with two in-office bleaching sessions. These appointments typically take place about one week apart. Each session jump starts the bleaching process typically lightening teeth one or more shades, and these in office treatments also help manage sensitivity.
At-Home Teeth Whitening
Following the two in-office bleaching sessions, patients need to continue whitening at home for about two weeks to attain the desired result. We provide patients with a personalized treatment plan including a custom crafted application tray that keeps whitening gel on the teeth and neutralizing saliva off allowing the KoR bleaching gel to work for hours at a time. After two weeks, patients may return to our office for another in-office treatment, but in most cases, patients see their desired results. We then recommend patients continue retreating their teeth a few days every month in order to maintain their brighter smile for years. In some cases, we may offer just at-home bleaching from KoR for those with stains that are closer to the surface.
Tooth-colored fillings, sometimes referred to as direct or cosmetic bonding, allow our team to repair teeth following mild decay or minor chips and cracks, but they can also be used to correct purely cosmetic concerns. Using a high quality composite resin, we prepare teeth by removing damaged structures. We then place the resin material directly onto the prepared tooth shaping and hardening it into position. Direct bonding can be used to conceal dental stains, reshape teeth that are irregularly formed, fill gaps between teeth, and correct a number of other minor cosmetic flaws. Tooth-colored fillings can be completed in a single visit to our office.
Those patients interested in transforming their smiles quickly and effectively may want to consider porcelain veneers. In two short visits to our office and minimal preparation of teeth, patients are able to completely transform the color, shape, positioning, and size of teeth. Veneers are thin sheaths of dental grade porcelain that are fitted over the front facing surfaces of teeth in order to conceal any number of smile flaws. Patients who choose porcelain veneers should plan to visit our Wharton dental practice two times. During the initial visit, we remove a small amount of surface enamel to prepare the tooth, capture impressions used by our trusted lab to craft a custom veneer, and place a temporary to protect teeth and allow patients to get used to the look and feel of their veneer. Once the final veneer is complete, patients return to our practice to exchange the temporary for the custom porcelain veneer transforming their smiles.
Today’s orthodontic treatment can be completed without the use of embarrassing, uncomfortable metal hardware. Invisalign in Wharton is an FDA-approved clear braces system that uses a series of practically-invisible plastic aligners to gradually shift teeth into their proper alignment. Good for correcting teeth that are gapped, crowded, or for fixing overbite, crossbite, and underbite, Invisalign is an excellent option for busy adults and older teens alike.
The need for orthodontic treatment goes beyond the cosmetic benefits of straight teeth. When your teeth line up the way they should, they are easier to brush and floss. That means your dental and oral health stands to improve after you wear braces. And when your upper and lower jaw fit together properly, your TMJ (temporomandibular joint) gets relief from the unnecessary strain and pressure that a misalignment can produce. Straightening your teeth is about more than just looking better. It’s about feeling great and being healthy, too.
So how does Invisalign compare to traditional braces? While both treatments produce the same end result -- straight teeth and a more confident smile -- your experience throughout the treatment is markedly different.
Some of the benefits of Invisalign compared to traditional metal braces include…
- Chances are good no one will notice you are wearing Invisalign throughout treatment.
- Invisalign trays are removable, for easy eating and cleaning.
- Smooth plastic is less likely to rub blisters into the cheeks, gums, and tongue.
- Fewer visits to the dentist are required with Invisalign.
Invisalign offers a convenient, comfortable, discreet alternative to traditional braces. And many times, the Invisalign treatment is completed more quickly than with metal brackets and wires. There has never been a better time to undergo orthodontic treatment. If you are suffering from the effects of crowded, gapped, or otherwise misaligned teeth, Invisalign is the clear solution you’ve been waiting for.
